Can you imagine Linkin Park without the soaring vocals of lead singer Chester Bennington? If it wasn't for the gitty determination of the band's frontman, today's biggest rock band might have never made it. In fact, Chester put everything on the line for Linkin Park - including his home and family.

Crash Sessions

Nobody knows life ebetter than Chester how risky it is to dedicate a holw life to music. "There was a lot of fear," he confesses. "My wife Samantha and I had a lot to lose - our credit to destroy, a relationship to destroy." Things were so bad that at one point, the singer had to sleep in his car because he couldn't afford an apartment or hotel. He even crashed on a sofa in the studio while the band recorded Hybrid Theory. Guitarist Brad Delson remembers being in awe of his bandmate's willingness to suffer for his musical vision. "Because he had so much to risk, he was extremely motivated," says Delson. "He would actually tell us, 'Guys I don't think we're working hard enough.'"

Where the Heart Is

Chester's hard work has paid off so well that he and his wife can finally afford a brand new house - if only he could remember the address! "I have slept in my new house exactly three times, because the band is constantly on the road," he admits. When the record company needed personal info from him, Chester had to call Samantha to find out what his home address was! Still, the former drifter is not complaining: "It's going to be more difficult for me to vent on the new record because life is great."

Family Man

The good news keeps getting better for Samantha and Chester - the couple is expecting their first child this month. (Draven was already born however after this article was printed on April 19th) "I have no idea what it's it is like to be a dad," says Chester. "I just know that this kid will totally change my life." Fans should also be happy for the newest addition to the family, because it means new material will be sped along. "The CD has to be done by April, because then I'll go on daddy leave," the singer grins. If Chester crashes in the studio again the guys will have it finished in no time!
