Mike na Fort Minor Militia
Mike Shinoda on... the new lyrics:
we spent about 17 months on this record, and were wroking on lyrics and vocals for at least 9 months. i think it's a more vocally driven record... there's a little bit of rapping too, and i sing lead on one song. harmonies on the rest.
Mike Shinoda on... exclusive media:
i wanted to do this chat because i knew that there's not that much FMM content right now, but you'll be getting more when there's something to have...maybe a little SOB related stuff, maybe a little LP related stuff...i'm not 100% sure what it'll be, but i'll try to get you guys whatever I can!
Mike Shinoda on... the new artwork:
we tried to make the album art match the music, so there's a lot of variety. we got some paintings from guys like phil hale, ekundayo, and usugrow which were really great... i didn't paint anything this time for the artwork.
Mike Shinoda on... the special edition dvd:
THE DVD ON SPECIAL EDITION IS AMAZING!!! seriously, LPTV and the "making of" DVD are the two best things behind the scenes things we've ever done. you have to see them.
Mike Shinoda on... influences for the new album:
influences on this record were less about other bands, and more about just messing around until we came up with something. i was listening to a ton of music: led zeppelin, U2, ministry, barry white, run dmc, old ice cube, rakim, the police, hendrix.
Mike Shinoda on... the different CD versions:
OH YEAH there are going to be THREE version of the album when it comes out... standard edition; special edition: a CD + "making of" DVD combo in a (dope) little bound package (shaped like a little diary book), and; a BIG BOOK, about the size of the "making of meteora" book--it's huge, with big amazing photos and all the info on the making of the album, PLUS it has the CD + "making of" DVD INCLUDED. that one is more expensive, but it's worth it...
Not much has been revealed so far, although we now know the exact formats of each of the CD editions and the variety of artwork we can expect to see. LPTV will not be on the DVD as was present on the "Making of Meteora" however we will get more backstage footage, possibly encapsulating bits of the Linkin Park TV series within it.
