Fueled by roaring hits like "In the End" and "Crawling" Linkin Park's 2001 debut 'Hybrid Theory' sold 8 million copies. The interplay between Chester Bennington's anguished singing and Mike Shinoda's deadpan rhymes still fuels much of the rap-rock band's solid second effort, but the group also streaches out with some credible musical experimentation. A Japanese shakuhachi flute flutters in the background of "Nobody's Listening". "Faint" layers muted strings and piano with thumping percussion and furious guitars. Less successful is "Eaiser to Run," a throwback hair-metal ballad that would be better suited to Skid Row. Bottom Line: Catch this Meteora.
